When it echoes in a room without walls
Made while in residency at MOtiVE Brooklyn as part of their For the Artists! 2022 Program
MOtiVE Brooklyn / Brooklyn, NY
When it echoes in a room without walls is a personal and disorienting account of memory built around Laurie Anderson's 1982 song, From the Air. Unreality, truth-telling, and emotional illegibility become returning themes via physical materials, movement, and story-telling of personal experiences of post-trauma dissociation.
When it echoes in a room without walls has been shared in live performance formats at Waxworks at Triskelion Arts (March 2022), Open Performance at Movement Research (April 2022), CREST Fest at Chilo's Greenwood (May 2022), and an Informal Staff & Faculty Showing at Bates Dance Festival Young Dancers Workshop (June 2022). The shorter film version (seen above) was filmed at MOtiVE Brooklyn.
